Tried the online diagrams of a variation with an unsatisfactory result. Apparently the variation tries to reveal the open back (see the white paper?) and hence replaces the wings with a cover-up. But I really don't like the cover-up. I don't like that the back is open, either, but I think it still makes a nicer model with those. You should probably use paper with the same colour on both sides to get a nice result. The model has quite a few steps, but they're all relatively simple. I wouldn't recommend this model to an unexperienced folder, though.
